Catching Up: Writing, Podcasting, and Public Speaking

What I’ve been doing instead of blogging.

Working as a freelancer has resulted in significantly less blogging. The writing world teaches me a lot: how writing differs from blogging, how to pitch a story - and get said pitch accepted, navigating contracts and kill fees, and so much more. While there are many perks to getting articles published in major sites, I appreciate the beauty and simplicity of blogging - something I honestly took for granted.

In addition to the 80+ blog posts that I’ve written since this blog started in 2015, I’ve had a few pieces picked up by some big publications. The topics of most of my content falls under an umbrella that I like to call Sex, Sobriety, Rock N Roll. Click here to access my full writing portfolio.

I’ve also been interviewed for several podcasts and booked for public speaking on the topics of sobriety and sober sex/dating. Below you will find links to some of my greatest hits in writing, podcast features, and public speaking events over the last two years.

Writing:

AudioFemme - What Alanis Taught Me About Anger in Sobriety

Playboy - Pegging for Politics

The Temper - 4 Things I Learned When I Quit Faking Orgasms in Sobriety

The Temper - How to Try Sobriety Without Being a Sober Tourist

AudioFemme - Audioslave’s ‘Doesn’t Remind Me’ is My Sobriety Anthem

Podcasting:

Sober Curious with Ruby Warrington: The Joy of (Sober) Sex

Recovery Happy Hour with Tricia Lewis - Sober Sex

Shameless Sex - Sex & Sobriety with Tawny

Public Speaking:

I’ve been lucky enough to do quite a bit of public speaking in addition to writing. Collaborating with Monument in Brooklyn, Movendi (formerly IOGT) in Sweden, and the NY State Recovery Conference in Albany was epic. One of my most memorable experiences was chatting with middle school kids about recovery here in New York City. I’ve even had the privilege of making some music with the amazing folks at Road Recovery!

Did you know I have a podcast with Lisa Smith? We are launching season three this spring! Catch up on seasons one and two on all streaming platforms. Click here for more details.

What have you been up to? What topics would you like to see me cover in the future? Comment below and let’s chat!
